Why Gloucester Old Spot?
The Gloucester Old Spot is one of the oldest and rarest heritage pig breeds in the world - known for its docile temperament, excellent mothering instincts, and extraordinary flavor. Very few farms in Ohio raise this breed.
Our Gloucester Old Spots are raised on pasture with access to fresh ground, natural rooting behavior, and a diet free from vaccines, GMOs, and synthetic inputs. The result is pork with a rich, complex flavor and a fat profile that reflects a life lived outdoors.
Typical cuts available: chops, roasts, ground pork, sausage, bacon, ribs, and lard. Availability varies - call ahead or visit the store.

Pastured Pork Questions
Gloucester Old Spot is one of the oldest and rarest heritage pig breeds in the world, and Ripple Run Farms is among the very few Ohio farms raising them. The breed is known for exceptional marbling and flavor, and the pigs are raised on pasture with no vaccines and no GMO feed.
Ripple Run Farms offers Quarter, Half, and Whole Beef Shares in finite one-animal allocations. Check the Bulk Orders page for current availability; individual grass-fed beef cuts remain available in the farm store every day. The Bulk Orders page also shows live availability for the limited 20-ham no-nitrate Thanksgiving and Christmas run; each ham is 14 to 18 pounds, costs $9.50 per pound, has no size selection, is ready for pickup starting November 16, and requires a $50 nonrefundable deposit. Heritage Gloucester Old Spot Half Hog and Whole Hog deposits are sold out until January 10, 2027. Customers can join the matching Half Hog or Whole Hog waitlist on the Bulk Orders page.
