Yes. Ripple Run Farms carries A2/A2 raw milk from partner farm Sweet Grass Dairy, which milks 100% grass-fed cows on 140 certified organic acres and tests weekly through a third-party lab. In accordance with Ohio law, the raw milk is sold as pet milk only.
Grass-fed means the cattle ate grass at some point in their lives, while grass-finished means they ate only grass and forage for their entire lives, right up to harvest. Beef from Ripple Run Farms is both grass-fed and grass-finished, with no grain finishing at any stage.
A2/A2 refers to the type of beta-casein protein in the milk. Most commercial dairy cows produce A1 beta-casein, while A2/A2 cows produce only A2 beta-casein, which many people with dairy sensitivities report is easier to digest.
Gloucester Old Spot is one of the oldest and rarest heritage pig breeds in the world, and Ripple Run Farms is among the very few Ohio farms raising them. The breed is known for exceptional marbling and flavor, and the pigs are raised on pasture with no vaccines and no GMO feed.
Ripple Run Farms sells pasture-raised chicken, 100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, Heritage Gloucester Old Spot pork, A2/A2 raw milk and dairy, and seasonal pasture-raised turkey. Chicken, beef, pork, and dairy are stocked year-round, and turkey is available seasonally for the holidays.
Pasture-raised turkey deposits open each September and usually sell out before Thanksgiving. Reserve one on the deposit page or join the waitlist to be notified when the next season opens.
Farming Practices
Regenerative farming builds soil health instead of depleting it. At Ripple Run Farms that means planned rotational grazing that moves livestock to fresh pasture on a schedule, no synthetic fertilizers or chemical sprays, and natural pest management, with the goal of healthier soil, animals, and food each year.
No. Every animal at Ripple Run Farms, including the chickens, pigs, cattle, and turkeys, is raised without vaccines, without synthetic hormones, and without GMO feed.
No, Ripple Run Farms is not USDA certified organic, though its practices exceed organic requirements in several respects. The farm uses no synthetic inputs, no vaccines, no GMOs, and no chemical sprays, and chose not to pursue certification because the process does not capture how the animals are actually raised.
Yes. The livestock live on pasture and are rotated to fresh ground throughout the grazing season, with shelter and stored forage during Ohio winters. They are never raised in confinement housing.
